	The first professional Norwegian ballet company was established in 1948. In 1958 it became the nucleus of the newly formed company at the National Opera House, The Norwegian National Ballet. The repertoire is classically based.

	The Ballet School at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet started in 1965, and for over the past 40 years, it is the leading school for training classical ballet. Beside ballet training, the young dancers have outstanding opportunities to perform.














	The new Oslo Opera House opened on 12 April 2008, and is now the home of The Norwegian National Ballet and the Ballet School. The new opera house is one of the world's most spectacular opera houses, with a fabulous location by the seaside. Renowned Norwegian architecture firm Sn�hetta designed the building. The new opera house will present a rich and varied programs on three stages: The Main Theatre (1369 seats), Scene 2 (400 seats) and the Rehearsal Theatre (200 seats).
